Sniper Sim 3D

Sniper Sim 3D is a simple, but fun to play, 3D first-person shooter game. Basically, the player controls a sniper whose goal is to hit all of the targets within a given time limit for each level.

The controls are very easy to master: the left click on a user's mouse is the fire button and the right click allows a user to zoom in for targets that are a little bit smaller or farther away.

Being a 3D game, Sniper Sim 3D is one of the more elegant flash-based games out there, but it isn't anything extraordinary in the world of browser-based gaming. The only element that really stands out is the use of shadows, which are a very nice texture addition to the gameplay world. Most of the shooting scenarios take place in a city, so the shadows make the buildings seem far off and ominous, which is very nice.

The level of difficulty is somewhat lacking. Most gamers could probably zoom through the first five levels or so with absolutely no problem at all. As mentioned above, there is a time limit factor which is involved in each level/mission, but beating the time limit isn't ever really a problem. In the early levels, targets don't move, but targets move and are somewhat farther away from the sniper in the latter levels of the game.

However, sometimes it is quite difficult to find the targets. In fact, sometimes I found that I would hit 6 of the 7 targets, or something similar, and then would waste 50 seconds and run out of time just searching for the last target which was, seemingly, unfindable. In some ways, this detracted from the overall gameplay value.

Finally, there is almost zero replay value to this game. There are only 14 levels in the first place, and once a player has played through them and knows where all the targets are, it shouldn't be any problem to beat the levels with ease if they were played again. There is no increase in difficulty or new game plus mode available upon beating the game.

Overall, I would rate this game a C- for browser-based games. Its 3D approach makes it far more appealing to the eye than most other flash games, but its extreme lack of replay value and difficulty drops it far down the scale in my book.

Enjoy Sniper Sim 3D!
