Global Crysis
Global Crysis is a side-scrolling shooter/platformer combo. You play a mercenary sent out to undertake various dangerous missions -- well, you wouldn't send a mercenary to pick up some peanut butter at the store, would you? You can customize your hero's appearance on the start screen, so you can have anything from a realistic-looking soldier to a stalk-eyed green monster.
Global Crysis : How to play? Controls are fairly simple. You use the standard W, A, and D keys to move and jump your hero, and the mouse to aim and fire your gun. You reload automatically once you're out of ammo, although you can hit R to reload if you'd rather not get caught short in the middle of a firefight. The number keys are used to swap weapons, and E is used to push buttons, open doors, and perform other actions.
Each level usually requires you to collect some objective, such as a briefcase or a hostage, and make your way to an extraction point. This means a fair amount of jumping, climbing, and shooting at the various gunmen who block your way. Enemies take several hits to kill, although doing headshots will make them go down faster. You can push boxes and shoot various parts of the scenery, such as exploding barrels or wooden barriers, to get them out of your way. Take too much damage from explosions or enemy bullets, and you're dead. Time to start the level again.
You can also collect skulls, which are used to buy better weapons between levels. Some levels also include hidden playing cards for those who enjoy finding secret places. The game awards badges for various achievements, including collecting skulls, killing enemies, and finding cards.
While Global Crysis won't win any awards for originality, it's a fun diversion that will keep you playing for a while as you blast your way through the levels.
Enjoy playing Global Crysis!
